Historic First
On December 10, 2020, at just 25 years old, Jocelyn Yow was sworn in as Mayor of Eastvale — making her the youngest woman of color to serve as mayor of a California city in history. Daughter of a Vietnamese refugee mother and Malaysian Chinese father, she was also the first Malaysian American ever elected to public office in the United States. |

The ERHS Impact
Women make up the majority of the workforce at ERHS and throughout the Corona-Norco Unified School District. This past weekend, female coaches and administrators at ERHS successfully managed the State Girls Wrestling Championship — a landmark moment for female athletics in Eastvale.

Sally Tran
Born in Saigon in 1977, Sally Tran escaped Vietnam by boat at age 4 and eventually made her home in Eastvale. She became a business owner and founded the charity US2Vietnam, regularly returning to Vietnam to support those in need. Her story is now permanently archived in the Vietnamese American Oral History Project at UC Irvine — a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit that defines Eastvale women.
