GOING FOR GOLD: Cayla Barnes Brings it Home!
Eastvale’s own Cayla Barnes has made history once again! In a heart-pounding 2-1 overtime victory against Canada on February 19, 2026, Cayla and the USA Women’s Hockey Team secured the GOLD MEDAL at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
The Heroics: Team captain Hilary Knight tied the game late in the third, and Megan Keller sealed the win with the overtime goal.
A Growing Legacy: This is Cayla’s third Olympic medal (Gold in 2018 & 2026, Silver in 2022).
Pro Status: When she's not representing Team USA, she skates for the Seattle Torrent in the PWHL.
Fun Fact: Cayla is an Eastvale native who grew up playing for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks before taking the world stage.

Our local athletes at Roosevelt High School are having a stellar February:Boys Basketball: Coming off a huge 74-65 victory against Edison on Feb 18! They are currently in the CIF Southern Section Division 2A Playoffs. Update: Catch them tonight, Feb 20, as they take on Bishop Amat at 7:00 PM.
Boys Soccer: The Varsity team recently competed in the Division 1 CIF Championships, showing incredible grit throughout the tournament.
CITY NEWS & UPDATESCivic Center Progress: Phase 1 of the new Eastvale Civic Center (Hamner & Limonite) is moving forward. This 17-acre hub will feature a 3-story City Hall, a massive Riverside Branch Library, and a new Police Station. Target completion: Early 2028.
New Amenities: Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) just completed shade sail replacements at various local parks and restriped the gym floors at the Eastvale Community Center this month!
Zip Code Advocacy: The city continues to push for an independent 92880 zip code. H.R. 672 has passed the House and is currently under review by the Senate.
Safety Update: Riverside Sheriff’s deputies announced the arrest of a suspect on Feb 18 in connection with an assault that occurred earlier this month on 65th Street.
